I began working on Infrastructure businesses as an tax advisor at a Big 4 firm. It was great to be involved at a time when there was vibrant flow of primary and secondary market projects and transactions. Being a key player in the development of Composite Trade tax treatment was a defining moment as it helped unblock many deals that at the time were unaffordable or lacked value for money. Supporting HM Treasury in assessing tax as part of their early assessment of projects also enhanced my experience of the sector.
I followed this with 10 years' at a market leading, global infrastructure investment and management business. A very transactional organisation which itself went through great change during my time there. Leading the tax structuring and related work on three IPOs for the business gave me a unique insight into tax strategies to adopted by Infrastructure businesses.
Through Purple Bear Advisory I have continued to advise the sector including M&A transactions, HMRC negotiations and providing tax technical support.
